2015 WALT Sonoma Coast Chardonnay

Tasting notes: Vibrant golden color, this wine has aromas of toasted hazelnuts, white flowers, lemon verbena, and peach. Battonage and sur lees aging provide a texture that resonates with tension and length. On the palate, the wine unfolds with flavors of lemon curd and stone fruit. Hints of oak and minerality provide nuance to this rich and elegant wine.
Winegrowing Notes: The fruit is sourced primarily from our estate vineyard, Bob’s Ranch, located in both the Russian River and Sonoma Coast AVA. The combined characteristics of these appellations, including cool morning fog and light sandy cotati and goldridge soils, give depth and uniqueness to the resulting blend.
Vintage Notes: The 2015 growing season delivered another great vintage. A mild winter with a dry, warm March caused early bud break. Colder temperatures and light rain in late spring stunted cluster development which ultimately led to smaller grape clusters and berries. Summer temperatures were mild, ripening progressed slowly and steadily with intense flavors developing early. This vintage exhibits concentrated aromatics and deep color.
